“Where will the frogs sing?” is about the beauty and destruction of small remnants of land in the Aspen Parkland area of Saskatchewan and why we should care about them.
We often wonder how we can care about the land if we don’t know and love it ourselves. Join us this week at the kitchen table as we share a bit of our personal journey of spending time on the land.
We welcome your voice at the kitchen table too. Please come back and leave us a comment below.
P.S. You’re invited to our Zoom Artist Talk! We are honoured to be in conversation with the Kinship Photography Collective on Wednesday, March 29th at 5pm Saskatchewan time. (7pm EDT) Kinship is a global community of practice creating rich visual conversations that explore the intimate connections between nature, culture and belonging. They’ve been kind enough to let us invite any of our friends who would like to join in. Here is the link to register.
“Where will the frogs sing?” is the collaboration of two rural settler artists responding to the beauty and destruction of SE Saskatchewan’s remnants of land to encourage discourse on the land’s intrinsic value.
Hello there! My name is Lourdes Still and I work for Young Agrarians. My colleague forwarded your work to me because she thought that your work aligns with the theme of our mixer this coming Dec 2-3. It is Rooted: Grow Deep, an ode to what remains of the mixed-grass prairie on the land we are farming on. I would love to invite you to attend our mixer and even have an art installation at the venue. I can be reached at prairiesnetwork@youngagrarians.org. Looking forward to hearing from you. - Lourdes
Really enjoyed your first zine, Sue and Vera!
Right now it’s so wet and foggy out on Hamilton Mountain that I am only going out the door to the shed to get some tiny seed pots to start some veggies. Hardly wild but at least it’s out the door!
