“Proud to call this woman my mother. I hope that there is still [wild] habitat left when I am her age, but if we don’t say anything, there won’t be.”
Danielle wrote these touching words when she shared an interview we did with her mother, Wendy, in a Facebook post. In “Going, going, gone…” Wendy spoke about the recent destruction of wetlands and bush not far from their farm. Her words have had the widest circulation of any of our posts so far. We are so grateful to Wendy for sharing her thoughts. If you missed that interview you can find it here.
We saw many comments on our blog and Facebook - this is one of our favourites. Thank you Danielle!
“Where will the frogs sing?” is the collaboration of two rural settler artists responding to the beauty and destruction of SE Saskatchewan’s remnants of land to encourage discourse on the land’s intrinsic value.
It summed it up so well
It was a beautiful and heartbreaking interview with Wendy, and Danielle’s comments remind us of how little could be left to future generations unless we act now.
