Hi Everyone,
We want to share a few pieces of good news today. Some of you know that we applied for a SK Arts Grant to support our work on “Where will the frogs sing?” and WAHOOOOOOO!!!!! - we are happy to announce we’ve been awarded an Independent Artist Grant. This grant will enable us to continue producing art including creating more zines, writing this blog, and taking the time to consider our own relationship with the land. As we’ve said before, “How can you care for something you don’t know and love it first?” Becoming better acquainted with the places where we live is at the heart of our collaboration. Huge thank you to SK Arts for their support.
More excitement - we will be participating in a group show entitled View from the Edge of the World, from August 18 – October 23, 2023 at the Art Gallery of Regina (2420 Elphinstone Street). Stay tuned for more information on this, but expect to sit around a real kitchen table in both conversation and contemplation about the the beauty and wonder of small remnants of land in the aspen parkland of SK.
Finally, we were thrilled to present an artist talk to the Kinship Photography Collective which is a global community of practice creating rich visual conversations that explore the intimate connections between nature, culture and belonging. Here is a link to that talk where we focused on collaborating. As artists, it is always exciting to have these opportunities to share what we are doing.
We will leave you with this thought from the Dalai Lama:
“Just as ripples spread out when a single pebble is dropped into the water, the actions of individuals can have far reaching effects.”
Before we sign off, a quick reminder to send in your buffalo postcard pictures by June 30th. We’ve loved seeing the ones we’ve received so far and look forward to more.
Vera and Sue
